This is the time of year that conditions can tend to become calm and clear on the Beaches (oceanside), and this means the sight fishing for big fish can be one of the best opportunities around (in the central Florida region). As the intercostal, (or Indian River Lagoon area) can also be a strong producer of substantial catches this time of year. If you are inclined to target "the summertime bruisers" you will want to bring your 6 - 8000 size (Spinning tackle), Bait casting tackle in the 20 - 40 #category, and (or) your 10 - 12 wt. (fly tackle) - *if your plan is to bring your own gear*. Some of the most common targeted species during the summer months are as follows - Giant Tarpon, Big Jacks, Albacore (Bonita), Snapper, Permit, Barracuda, Snook, Baracuda, Sharks and many others.

In preparation for your trip it would be our suggestion that you take out your 10 - 12 wt fly rod, or heavier general tackle, and practice your distance and accuracy.
